Britam Asset Managers Wins Fund And REITs Award.

Britam Asset Managers CEO Kenneth Kaniu (2nd R) and his team,receives the “Best Fund and REITS Manager in Kenya award.

Britam Asset Managers received the Best Fund and REITs (Real estate investment trusts) Manager in Kenya award during the inaugural 2018 Real Estate Excellence Awards.

The awards recognize the outstanding achievements of key players in the sector. Britam’s venture into the real estate and property sector is part of the company’s diversification strategy  to increase its customer offering.

The Awards recognize and reward outstanding performance of companies as reflected in their audited financial statements and rank companies that have greatly contributed to the growth of the sector through technological innovations, good corporate governance, social impact and sustainability, education and great customer service

The asset management company holds 10.64% stake in Equity Bank, making it the second largest single shareholder in the Bank.

In 2017, Britam became one of the few companies in Kenya licensed by the regulator to offer REITs (Real estate investment trusts) as an alternative investment vehicle.

Speaking after receiving the licence, Britam Asset Managers Chief Executive, Kenneth Kaniu said the company’s retail and institutional investors now have the opportunity to invest in real estate as a viable investment option as REITS allow anyone to invest in portfolios of large scale properties the same way they invest in other sectors.
