Edward Opiyo Oluoch, a mathematics and geography teacher at Nyamonye Girls Secondary School in Bondo is the fifth winner of a three-bedroom apartment located in Nairobi’s Riruta neighbourhood in the ongoing Lipa Na M-Pesa promotion.
The 39 year old father of three joins Reuben Keitany, Samuel Gathiru, Salma Mohammed and Joseph Kipkurui who have so far won apartments in the promotion.
“This is the first time I have won in a promotion, and I am very delighted to be the owner of this three bedroom apartment. I use Lipa Na M-Pesa a lot to pay my bills and shop for my family,” said a delighted Oluoch.
The winner has been teaching at Nyamonye Girls since 2011 and has over the years earned the confidence and trust from students, teachers and the non-teaching staff. Most parents often send him pocket money to give their children while at school. His wife, Sheila Wekesa teaches history and Kiswahili in the school.
Since the promotion began in January, Safaricom has awarded four apartments to customers and 80 tuktuks to Lipa Na M-Pesa merchants. The telco has also been awarding a surprise cashback to eight customers every minute, one in each region, for paying with Lipa Na M-Pesa. Merchants get 25 percent of the Lipa Na M-Pesa transaction charges as a cashback every night.
