Beijing Raiders are the season three Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Nairobi region champions. They defeated Acakoro Ladies by a big margin of six goals against zero. Salome Drailer scored four goals for the new champions, while Facila Adhiambo netted in two.
âI changed the structure of the team to give the players more freedom since I donât have an outright attacker assigned yet, and I am glad it worked,â said Mark Okwiri, coach, Beijing Raiders after the sweet victory.
In the boysâ final, Dagoretti Mixed defeated Harakati Sportiff by four goals to three in post-match penalties after playing to a barren draw in regulation time.
âI thank God for giving us this victory and I promise that we shall do our best to come back with the national title,â said Peter Achoka, captain, Dagoretti Mixed.
Both Beijing Raiders and Dagoretti Mixed won Kshs. 200,000 and will now represent Nairobi region in the national finals set for June 2020 at Bomu Stadium, Mombasa. Acakoro Ladies and Harakati Sportiff did not walk away empty handed as they both pocketed Kshs. 100,000, with a host of individual prizes won by the best performing players.
The two teams join Tumaini School from Makueni, Isiolo Starlets from Isiolo, North Easternâs Berlin FC from Garissa, Coast regionâs Yanga FC from Malindi, Kwale Ladies, Falling Waters from Laikipia and Ulinzi Youth from Nanyuki who have already secured a ticket to the national finals where Kshs. 1 million is up for grabs.
The tournament now heads to Kericho for the Rift valley regional finals set for 7th and 8th March 2020 at the Green stadium.
An all-Star team comprising thirty two players (both boys and girls ) will be selected from the eight regional finals to attend a ten day training camp in Spain during which they will play friendly matches against top Spanish La Liga football academies.
