Mathare member of Parliament, Antony Oluoch has filed a petition in parliament complaining about digital cash lender’s operations. He said these platforms are being used as a way of extorting innocent Kenyans unknowingly, they have become like a trap.
This has resulted to unfortunate incidences like family break ups, divorces and an increasing number of loan defaulters and to some extreme cases, suicide.
Mr. Oluoch has asked the Central Bank Of Kenya and Communication Authority of Kenya to look into these operations and come up with rules and regulations to tame and control their operations.
National Assembly Speaker, Justin Muturi has filed a petition to the Committee of Finance and National Planning to look into the matter and table a report in 60days to Parliament.
