Safaricom Kisumu has declared Emmanuel Bor from Nandi and Everline Chichir from Nakuru as champions of 10 km road race today being the last race in the 2019 calendar of Safaricom Athletics Series.
Emanuel Bor who won the Safaricom Imenti South road race a week ago, said that the hilly terrain in the previous race enabled him to prepare for the 10km race claiming that the flat grounds in Kisumu also contributed to his win and as he looks forward to next year’s Olympics he’s hoping to not only make it for qualifiers but also win.
Among the long distance races, track and field events sponsored by Safaricom under Safaricom Athletics Series that took place include, the Henry Wanyoike Road Run, 6th Deaf Half Marathon in Kericho, National Trials for 1st Africa Deaf Athletics Championships, Iten Road Race, the Madoka Half Marathon, Isaiah Kiplagat Memorial Ndalat cross-country, Mombasa road race, Kisii Half Marathon and Imenti South road race.
Both winners of Safaricom Kisumu 10km went home with a cash prize of KES 100,000 while the first and second runners-up in both categories pocketed KES 50,000 and KES 25,000 respectively.
