GILBERT MBURU: MENTOR SACCO IS HELPING ME TO SECURE MY FUTURE
Mr. Gilbert Kiarie Mburu, joined Mentor Sacco in 2013. He teaches at Kathambara primary school. “ I noticed that one of my colleagues who was a member of Mentor was making a lot of progress and this motivated me to follow her example,” he said. The decision was wise because the Sacco financed his higher education at the University of Nairobi. He graduated with two degrees – a bachelor and masters of education.
Additionally, through the Sacco’s long term loan product dubbed ‘jijenge’, Mr. Mburu has been able to purchase a piece of land in which he is currently putting up a modern family house. He has also ventured into poultry farming after being financed to buy an incubator by the Sacco.
Since 2013, he has religiously attended all the members’ education, training and information days ( MIDs) organized by the Sacco. “ Today, I have learnt how to liberate myself from debts, the benefits of making wise investment decisions and how to achieve financial freedom,” Mr. Mburu said after attending the MID at Gatanga primary school. “ This will help me to secure my future,” he added.

JOHN KAMAU: MENTOR SACCO HAS ADDED VALUE TO MY LIFE
Mr. John Maina Kamau joined Mentor Sacco way back in 1999. It was then known as Murang’a Teachers Sacco. “ My journey with Mentor Sacco over the years is very memorable because I have been able to invest in real estate, transport business and agribusiness,” he said. He is proud to have been among the members who campaigned for the Sacco to open its common bond , rebrand and launch front office services activity ( FOSA). That strategic decision has contributed immensely to the Sacco’s growth in profitability and membership.
Mr. Kamau is an active and loyal member of Mentor Sacco. He regularly attends its AGMs and MIDs where he is an active contributor. “ Today’s MID was exceptional because the attendance was very high and the facilitator gave us important insights on how to achieve financial freedom,” he said adding that the attendance proved that the Sacco is growing very fast.

NELIUS MUTERIA: NO TURNING BACK SINCE I JOINED MENTOR SACCO
As soon as she was employed by the Teachers Service Commission ( TSC) in 1990, Nelius Ngumbai Muteria joined Mentor Sacco. Ever since, there has been no turning back. The Sacco has supported her in educating her children. Nelius is a very loyal member of the tier one Sacco. “ I have helped many people to join Mentor Sacco – including some who are not teachers by profession – and they have really benefited after doing so,” she said. “ They often call to appreciate me for motivating them to make the wise decisions,” she added.
Nelius also gave an assurance that even after she retires, she will continue being a member of the Sacco. “ Today, I have learnt the importance of having cash flowing assets and in that regard, I am planning to put up rental house in my commercial plot through the assistance of Mentor Sacco,” she said at the end of the MID at Gatanga primary school.

GRACE KIHARA: MENTOR SACCO HAS ASSISTED ME TO ACHIEVE MY DREAMS
Grace Nyambura Kihara joined Mentor in 2015 after being employed by the TSC. She was advised to do so by her professional colleagues. She has been financed by the Sacco to further her education and to invest in a plot. “ True to its mantra, by and large, Mentor Sacco has helped me to add value to my life,” she said. “ The Sacco offers an array of innovative loan products at very competitive interest rates to the benefit of members,” she added. By accessing these products, she has been able to educate her two children who are currently in high school.
She also noted that the Sacco’s staff members are very friendly and professional. “ Whenever we want to access the Sacco’s products, the staff members assist us until we are satisfied,” she said.

MONICA MWANGI: I AM A LOYAL MEMBER OF MENTOR SACCO
Monicah Wanjiku Mwangi, a teacher by profession, joined mentor sacco in 2006 . She is happy to have made that decision. “ The Sacco has supported me in educating my children, investing in a business, putting up a modern house and buying a car,” she said.
Being a loyal member of Mentor who is keen on supporting its growth, Monicah has played a pivotal role in convincing over twenty teachers in her zone to join the tier one Sacco. “ Today , we’ve been taught how to invest wisely by the facilitator, while the management team took us through the products and services that are offered by the Sacco,” she said.

STEPHEN NDUNGU: MIDS ARE IMPORTANT FOR MEMBERS
Mr. Stephen Ndung’u is a teacher at Muthiga primary school. He joined Mentor Sacco in 1991 after graduating from college. “ My goal was to purchase a piece of land and to construct a modern house for my family; I am glad that Mentor Sacco has helped me to realize it,” said Mr. Ndung’u.
He joined the Sacco while young and single. With time though, he got married and the Sacco supported him to educate his children. He was also able to further his education by joining the University of Nairobi in 2004 to undertake a bachelor of education degree. He graduated in 2008. Mentor financed him to achieve that dream.
“ Today, I have learnt about the cash flow quadrant from the facilitator and how it guides one in achieving financial freedom,” he said after attending the MID at Gatanga primary school. “ I have also learnt about the need of investing in various sources of passive income in order to secure my future,” he added.
