Kalasha International TV and Film awards will celebrate ten year of awarding excellence this year. The event will entail a set of competitors from different categories who will be awarded based on their skills. It shall also set new benchmarks for future film makers and encourage the expansion of the industry. The purpose of this event is to fete Kenyan stars and promote Kenyan talent. It will take place at the Kenya International Conference Centre from 27th ( today) to 30th ( Saturday) March.
Entries into the award ceremonies are Films and TV series that have been aired on Kenyan television stations. The Kenya Film Commission is mandated to promote and market the film industry locally and internationally in order to identify and facilitate the promotion of film activities.
The awards represent the five original branches of film making : directors, actors, writers, producers and technicians. This year’s theme is : “ Reel Money , The Business of Film.” It is being promoted under the tagline : “Where Arts meet Commerce”. Topics on insurance and film financing in the film economy will also be deliberated on.
