Over 40 Kenyan travel agents are set to showcase the country’s tourism products during this year’s ITB Expo in Berlin, Germany. The move is aimed at encouraging more tourists to visit the country.
According to the Kenya Tourism Board Kenya’s participation in Europe’s largest tourism expo is to boost the influx of tourists as well as create an opportunity to network with top travel agents and get the latest intelligence on global tourism trends.
The German market is ranked at position six and is among the most resilient source markets for Kenya.
The Kenya Tourism Board through their Chief Executive Officer Betty Radier is leading the delegation for the three-day tourism fair scheduled for 7th to 11th March.
, “The German market still remains one of our key source markets. We are intensifying our marketing efforts to attract the youth, the extended families as well as honeymooners who are looking for longer stays and more travel experiences in Kenya.” Said the KTB CEO.
By the close of 2017, the German market recorded a 13.2% increase in arrivals into Kenya to 49,247 visitors compared to 43,502 travelers in 2016.
Radier further added, “We’ll continue to embrace the needs of the changing audiences as precipitated by the different age bands of tourists from all our key source markets to take the tourism sector’s performance to higher levels.”
The ITB Expo in Berlin has attracted over 100,000 exhibitors from 180 countries looking to get a share of Europe’s tourism and travel market.
Europe is the leading tourist source market for Kenya, accounting for a 36% share of the total international arrivals to Kenya in 2017.
