LOOP digital financial services (LOOP DFS), a subsidiary of NCBA Group and Team Amani – a cycling team composed of riders from East Africa – are all set for the third leg of the 2024 LOOP Safari Gravel Series at Hell’s Gate National Park in Naivasha on June 15, 2024.
With the series, LOOP and AMANI aim to make cycling safe, accessible and enjoyable to thousands of Kenyans. “We are excited to host this leg of the series after successfully hosting two legs in Tatu City and Iten. Since we began, we have noticed a tremendous change in the attitude of Kenyans towards cycling as a sport. LOOP Gravel Safari Series was initiated with the vision of nurturing and giving attention to the sport of gravel cycling,” said Gloria Akinyi, LOOP DFS’ chief people officer.The series aims to showcase many of the country’s beautiful landscapes by organizing major cycling events around Mt. Kenya, the Coast, Nairobi and the Rift Valley.
Elevate
Speaking during the captain’s cocktail ahead of the upcoming race, Hanifa Said, the chief operating officer of Team AMANI, said : “The purpose of this whole series is to elevate the level of cycling in the country, get more people involved in the sport and grow our nationwide talent pool to allow our young athletes the platform to showcase their talent and professionalism. This series is a step in the right direction, allowing us to broadcast Kenya as a global cycling destination whilst we work to cement the nations’s presence in a growing cycling industry.”
Categories to be contested in Naivasha include : the 20km LOOP, 60km LOOP and 120km LOOP. The event is attracting riders both locally and from the international scene. The races are open to professional and amateur riders, with the public encouraged to attend to follow the action and enjoy the excitement at the LOOP village.
Apart from the cycling action, fans can expect various engaging activities for the whole family. The hospitality area will offer a space where those in attendance can enjoy music and games and learn more about the LOOP brand.
