UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES; THE NEW CONSTRUCTION ‘SOLDIERS’

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle commonly known as drone or simply UAV is an aircraft that can be piloted through a remote device on or on board a computer. These vehicles can be automated using predetermined flight paths or they can be controlled manually using a mobile device or remote control. Many people term them as ‘aircraft  without a human pilot on board.’

Application for UAV’s for military, recreational, public and commercial uses have expanded significantly in recent years. In the construction industry, they are being used primarily for monitoring of construction workflow and job site logistics, inspecting construction sites to asses structural integrity and for maintenance assessment. They help construction professionals conduct site surveys or track project progress in real time by generating aerial photos, maps and 3D images. They may create new work space hazards that need to be evaluated and managed to ensure their safe operations around human workers. At the same time Unmanned Aerial Vehicles can perform dangerous tasks, thereby improving work place safety. They are helpful in ensuring work site safety and improving productivity.images
