STUNNERBIZ SEASON 4 CHAMPIONS THE FUTURE OF DIGITAL FINANCE THROUGH COLLABORATION, INNOVATION AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING

The fourth edition of StunnerBiz, themed  : ‘ Revolutionizing Business through Digital Finance’,  was successfully held at the Movenpick Hotel in Nairobi, bringing together a diverse mix of leaders, innovators and decision-makers from Kenya’s cooperative, microfinance, banking,  fintech and technology sectors. Organized by Biashara Leo Magazine, the event provided a timely platform for industry players to engage in meaningful conversations around the opportunities, challenges and transformative potential of digital finance in an increasingly connected economy.

The forum attracted participation from leading organizations including: Neptune Software Group, Jethro Limited, Stima Sacco, Kopo Kopo,  Postbank, Mentor Sacco, AMFI-K, Tala, Bimas Kenya, Tai Sacco, Caritas Microfinance Bank, Hand in Hand East Africa, Meliora, United Winners Sacco, Anaweza Sacco, Ngeli Bee, GDC Sacco, SMEP Microfinance Bank and Musoni Systems, among others. Keynote address

The day commenced with a keynote address by  Dr. Gamaliel Hassan, Chief Executive Officer of Stima Sacco, who spoke on the realities of navigating the digitalization journey within the Sacco sub-sector. His address highlighted the opportunities that technology presents for improving efficiency, member experience and competitiveness, while also acknowledging the operational, cultural and strategic challenges institutions must overcome to successfully embrace digital transformation.

Delegates were further challenged to think beyond traditional measures of access during an insightful address by Mr.  David Mukaru, Chief Executive Officer of Caritas Microfinance Bank, who explored the relationship between financial inclusion and financial health. His presentation emphasized that while Kenya has made significant progress in enhancing financial inclusion, there remains an urgent need to ensure that financial products and services genuinely improve the wellbeing and resilience of individuals, households and businesses.

The future-facing conversations continued with a thought-provoking presentation by Mr.  Ben Mann, Group Product Manager at Microsoft Africa Development Centre (ADC), who explored the growing role of artificial intelligence in financial services. His address demonstrated how AI is rapidly becoming a catalyst for growth, efficiency and innovation across the financial ecosystem, while also encouraging institutions to embrace emerging technologies responsibly and strategically.

Panel discussion

One of the highlights of the event was the microfinance and digital finance panel discussion, held under the theme  : ‘Building Resilient Digital Finance Ecosystems.’  The panel brought together leading voices in the financial  sector, including :  Beryl Owino of Kopo Kopo,  Caroline Karanja of  AMFI-K, Nicholas Mugendi of Bimas Kenya and Agnes Muthoni of Tala Kenya.

The discussion explored critical issues shaping the future of digital finance. Panelists also reflected on the opportunities and risks associated with rapid digital adoption and emphasized the importance of building sustainable, customer-centred financial ecosystems.

Her presentation highlighted how customer experience is becoming one of the most important differentiators while doing business in  the financial sector.

Mr. Michael Koech, the General Manager, Business operations at Postbank, offered strategic perspectives on digital transformation and its implications for financial institutions. His address challenged organizations to view digitalization not merely as a technology initiative,  but as a strategic business imperative capable of driving long-term growth, efficiency and sustainability.

A special address by Mr. Stanley Ngeli, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ngeli Foods  further enriched the programme by focusing on leadership, adaptability and institutional readiness in an era of continuous disruption and technological advancement. His remarks reinforced the importance of visionary leadership in helping organizations navigate change and remain competitive.
