First Community Bank (FCB), the first fully fledged Shari’ah compliant bank to be approved by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has entered into a partnership with Postbank. Consequently, FCB customers will now be able to access Postbank’s 98 branches countrywide. This is in line with the lender’s growth strategy. “ As a bank, we are expanding our distribution network throughout the country by opening more branches and deploying a full range of non-branch channels including agency banking, mobile banking and electronic banking,” said Dr. Hussein Hassan, Chief Executive Officer, FCB, during the signing of the partnership. FCB customers will make cash deposits and withdrawals, besides making inquiries at any of Postbank’s branches.
Ms. Anne Karanja, Postbank’s Managing Director noted that the banking sector has become very dynamic and this has given room to innovation and collaboration among its players as they strive to meet the needs of their respective customers. “ This partnership is strategic as it allows FCB customers easy access to banking services in areas where it has not set base but are already being served by Postbank, therefore overcoming proximity challenges,” said Ms Karanja.
