PostBank Emerges Top In The Global Money Week Celebration

Postbank recently got an award from the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) for its stellar performance in the 2018  Global Money Week celebrations. To celebrate the week, the bank held financial literacy and job shadow sessions as  well as branch based competitions. It partnered with two community based organizations in offering financial literacy  sessions.

The objectives of the exercise which was launched by the bank’s chief operating officer, Mr. Sylvester     Obuon at Arya Samaj High School were : conducting financial literacy campaign in schools, churches and youth  forums, opening new Smata and Step accounts ( Postbank’s products targeting the youth ) and activation of the existing accounts. Over eighty branches countrywide were involved in identifying schools, churches and youth forums  where savings education was conducted.

As a result of this highly successful exercise, a total of 7,500 accounts were opened in March 2018 and over twenty branches countrywide held job shadows. In addition, the bank received Kshs.  2.2 million in form of deposits and its staff members were able to gain important networks that can actualize into business in future. According to a report by KBA that covers all the banks which participated in the Global Money  Week, Postbank was able to reach out to 7,000 young people outperforming other players in the industry. “We are keen on inculcating a savings culture among the youth and we therefore applaud Postbank because of reaching out to this  critical age group during this year’s Global Money Week celebrations,” said Mr. Habil Olaka, the chief executive  officer of KBA during the colorful event that was held at Postbank’s boardroom.
