NCBA Bank has officially launched its 99th branch in Kawangware, Nairobi—a move that reaffirms the bank’s commitment to financial inclusion and community-centered growth. The new outlet is strategically located in one of Nairobi’s most densely populated areas, aiming to better serve retail customers and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with accessible, reliable, and modern banking solutions.
A Commitment to Accessible, Inclusive Banking
Speaking during the launch, NCBA Acting Group Director for Retail Banking, Dennis Njau, said the expansion reflects the bank’s ambition to bring banking services closer to the people who need them most.
“This branch is not just a milestone, but a meaningful step in deepening our collaboration with the County Government as we work together to drive financial inclusion, support local enterprise, and empower the dreams of our people,” he noted.
The Kawangware branch is expected to enhance access to a variety of services, including digital account onboarding, mobile loans, asset finance, and SME-tailored tools such as NCBA tills. These services are designed to meet the specific needs of the local population and stimulate entrepreneurship at the grassroots.
Blending Digital Innovation with Physical Access
The bank’s ongoing investment in digital transformation continues to complement its branch expansion strategy. NCBA has rolled out a suite of mobile and online banking services to provide faster, safer, and more efficient solutions. With digital adoption on the rise, the physical presence in Kawangware serves as a support pillar, blending high-tech innovation with human connection for a seamless customer experience.
Collaboration and Sustainability at the Core
The launch was graced by Hon. Beatrice Elachi, Member of Parliament for Dagoretti North, who applauded NCBA’s community-centered approach. She emphasized the importance of partnerships between financial institutions and government in unlocking opportunities for underserved communities, particularly SMEs that require capital, mentorship, and access to essential financial tools.
As part of its Change the Story sustainability agenda, which targets the planting of 10 million trees by 2030, NCBA partnered with the Missionary Sisters of Precious Blood to plant 110 trees in the area. The event also featured a CSR outreach at Amani Primary School, where the bank donated eco-friendly school bags and food supplies, reinforcing its commitment to social impact and environmental stewardship.
Looking Ahead
The success of the Kawangware branch signals NCBA’s strong belief in proximity banking, where presence on the ground strengthens personalized engagement, boosts financial literacy, and accelerates economic inclusion. As the bank prepares to open its landmark 100th branch, it remains focused on growth strategies that blend sustainability, innovation, and community empowerment.
