NCBA Bank has proven its dedication to environmental conservation and community development by partnering with Kivukoni School to host the annual Kivukoni Eco Festival. This event celebrates the preservation of the environment, global citizenship, and community engagement.
Through this partnership, NCBA has expanded its sustainability agenda, strengthened its brand presence in Kilifi—where it has branches in Kilifi, Watamu, and Malindi—and promoted its Affluent Banking solutions, which include Visa Infinite Cards, Wealth Solutions, Digital Banking, Asset Finance, Bancassurance products, and SME Financing solutions.
The Kivukoni Eco Festival, established by Kivukoni School in Kilifi, is led by dedicated environmentalists. The festival aims to create an open and inclusive space for nature exploration and community involvement. Kivukoni School, an international eco school with a global network of supporters, prioritizes care and environmentally sustainable practices, fostering young citizens who make a positive impact on society and the planet. The school also incorporates the concept of Global Citizenship into its curriculum.
The festival offered a variety of artistic and cultural activities, including a Lion’s Den program where seven eco-businesses pitched their sustainable ideas. Treemendous Organics won, receiving KES 50,000 and mentorship to help it increase its impact. Other significant eco-businesses included Capapo Solutions, JikoPoa, Ricky Bags, Ocean Mamas, Tujay Mushrooms, and Eco-Traveller Hub.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Jacquie Muhati, NCBA Deputy Director, Marketing and Group Head of Brands, expressed pride in supporting the event, which aims to empower the next generation of globally transformative leaders and citizens while promoting innovation and sustainable practices. She emphasized the importance of strategic alliances in helping NCBA fulfill its sustainability commitments through the “Change the Story” campaign and its dedication to making a positive impact in the communities it serves.
Ms. Lucy Oliff, Director of Kivukoni School, praised NCBA’s support for the 2024 Kivukoni Eco Festival, stating that the partnership has inspired the community of entrepreneurs, environmentalists, and educators. She highlighted the mutual benefits of the partnership, such as introducing new customers to the bank.
