George Mwaura, a resident of Kangema, joined Mentor Sacco in 2015. This marked the beginning of a deeply transformative financial journey. What started as a membership has grown into a meaningful partnership that continues to shape his personal development and long-term financial stability.
Over the years, Mwaura has tapped into Mentor Sacco’s accessible loan products to build his financial profile. One of his proudest achievements has been acquiring a parcel of land, an investment made possible through a well-structured loan from the Sacco. With continued support, he is now working on developing the land, step by step.
Invaluable insights
Beyond the financial products, Mwaura attributes much of his knowledge about the co-operative movement to Mentor Sacco’s members’ information and education days (MIDs), which he has faithfully attended since becoming a member. Through these sessions, he has gained invaluable insights about budgeting, financial planning, and responsible borrowing – a programme he believes every member should take seriously.
Mwaura is especially impressed by how the Sacco has embraced technology to enhance service delivery. Processes that once involved long queues have now been digitized, making it easier and faster to access funds and updates through members’ accounts, especially during the MIDs.
Healthy financial status
Looking ahead, he has ambitious goals for the next five years: growing his investments, maintaining a healthy financial status, and continuing to build a strong foundation for his family. He believes Mentor Sacco will remain central to that vision. “When you need some quick cash, Mentor Sacco can sort you out. It has been very helpful in helping us grow financially,” he says.
To anyone yet to join, Mwaura’s message is simple: “ Mentor Sacco is more than just a savings and credit financial institution, it’s a reliable partner in achieving your dreams.”
