2024’S MOST VALUABLE TECH BRANDS HEAVILY FOCUS ON AI

The year 2024 was successful for certain businesses and brands, but several events, such as generative AI entering the mainstream, had a widespread impact on some sectors. Brands continued to put greater emphasis on sustainability, diversity, and gender equality, which in turn helped improve their public image and brand value.

The research by the team at TradingPedia shows that with the rise of new artificial intelligence technologies, tech companies significantly increased their brand value in 2024. Tech giants like Apple, Microsoft and Google, all heavily investing in new products, including AI, took the lead in the list of the most valuable brands, surpassing online retailer Amazon. American iPhone maker Apple, which introduced its powerful AI-focused M4 chip in May, dethroned Amazon from the top position after its brand value jumped by 73.6% from 2023 to $516.58 billion in 2024.

 Key findings

With an estimated value of $516.58 billion, Apple Inc. was 2024’s most valuable tech brand and the world’s top brand overall, surpassing the previous leader, Amazon. This represents a significant 73.6% increase from the previous year when its value was $297.51 billion.

Microsoft ranks second with a brand value of $340.44 billion. The PC maker, which also recently unveiled its first custom AI chip for the Azure platform, the Maia 100 AI Accelerator, saw its brand value rise by 77.7% from 2023.

Google takes third position, with a brand valued at $333.44 billion, up 18.5% from 2023. In May, Alphabet, Google’s parent company, introduced Trillium, a new addition to their AI data centre chip series. Although Amazon saw its brand valued at $308.9 billion in 2024, up 3.2% from 2023, it was outpaced by Apple, Microsoft, and Google. It is now the fourth  most valuable tech brand in the world.

The Chinese social media platform TikTok/Douyin climbed one position with $84.2 billion in brand value, representing a 28.16% increase over the past year. TikTok and its parent, ByteDance, are also developing AI models and implementing them in the app’s features.

The only tech brand in the top ten  to lose value in 2024, Samsung fell one position to rank sixth  globally with value of $82.21 billion. The company, which implements third-party AI technology in its devices, is now reportedly planning to join the AI race by building its own AI data centre in Gumi, South Korea.

Meta’s Facebook and Instagram brands both saw an increase in their value with 28.40% and 48.49%, respectively. Facebook ranks seventh  with $75.72 billion, followed by Instagram in eighth  place with $70.44 billion. This year, Meta also joined the AI chip race with its in-house chip, dubbed Artemis.

Enterprise tech giant Oracle is the ninth  most valuable tech brand in the world after its value increased by 34.18% from 2023 to $53.1 billion. The company has been offering generative AI-powered services for a while and in September, it introduced AI agents that would help businesses automate different processes and increase productivity.

Leading AI chip developer NVIDIA significantly increased its brand value by an impressive 163% in 2024. It reached an estimated $44.49 billion, becoming the world’s tenth   most valuable tech brand. The company’s stock has soared in 2024, reaching a peak of $148.88 per share on November seventh, representing a 209% increase since the start of the year.
