STUNNERBIZ   MASHINANI   2025 :  THE FUTURE IS ROOTED IN AGRIBUSINESS

Kenyan’s economy, like that of many African nations, is heavily reliant on agriculture. However, realizing its full potential requires a fresh perspective, one that positions youth as catalyst of innovation in the sector. By equiping young people with the right skills, mentorship, access to capital and policy support, agribusiness can shift from being a fallback option to a first-choice career path.

It is within this context that organized forums such as youth- focused agribusiness events become very important. These gatherings offer more than just awareness. They are incubators for ideas, launch pads for startups and vital networking platforms where knowledge meets opportunity. In line with this vision, Biashara Leo has taken a leading role in the planning and coordination of the forthcoming  StunnerBiz  Mashinani   agribusiness forum, reaffirming its commitment to fostering youth engagement, innovation and sustainable growth within the agricultural sector. The event will be held on 25th and 26th  September, at Othaya Teachers’ College in Nyeri County.

A new generation driving agricultural change

With more than 75% of Kenyan’s population under the age of 35, the country’s youthful energy and digital skills offer a unique opportunity to redefine the agricultural sector. What was once considered as a last- resort option is now being reimagined as a vibrant business space. Some youth  are now actively involved in the agricultural sector breaking the cycle.

A good case in point is  Emma Wanjiku who began her journey in agriculture as an attachee during her university studies in agricultural economics. What started as a routine attachment turned into a life-changing opportunity. After graduation, she leased two acres of land and started growing vegetables using modern farming methods. Through determination and innovation,  Wanjiku  gradually expanded her operations. Today she owns and manages a 2,000 acre agribusiness enterprise that produces avocados and vegetables for local and export markets. Her farm employs dozen of youth and serves as a model of youth-led agricultural success in Kenya.

Mindset change

Every great success story not only begins with an opportunity or resources, but a shift in mindset. It is this change in perspective that enables individuals to move beyond limitations, embrace innovation and approach challenges with resilience.

In agriculture, where perception often limits potential, a new way of thinking can redefine the entire sector. When young people begin to view agribusiness as a space for innovation and impact, they become catalyst for change, advancing not only their personal goals,  but also contributing to the national development.

Looking ahead

As Kenya leans into a future shaped by sustainability, technology, and inclusive development, agribusiness stands out as a key pillar. By inspiring young people to reimagine their role in this sector, we unlock a wealth of untapped energy and ingenuity. The next chapter of agriculture will not be written in silos, it will be driven by the bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and entrepreneurial spirit of youth who choose to plant their futures in the soil of opportunities.
