‘SONGA’ BY SAFARICOM IS HERE

Safaricom on Monday launched a music streaming application available to android users that will give it’s customers access to over 2 million songs by close to 400,00 artists both local and international. Safaricom is offering a 14-day free trial period after which subscribers will pay to access the application.

The service is only limited to safaricom subscribers both pre-paid and post-paid. To download it, one only needs to dial *812# to get the download link. Payment is via airtime billing of Sh 25 per day, Sh 150 per week or Sh499 per month. The application requires an internet connection but a subscriber can play songs they have downloaded while offline. The application has live radio which includes; KISS FM, East FM, Classic 105 and Homeboyz Radio.

This is not the first music application to be launched by Safaricom since a while back it launched Skiza Tunes that enables artist to earn money whenever a subscriber chooses their song as ring-back tones. Now here is Songa, the music streaming application that will help even more artists generate revenue and of course, Safaricom. “We are excited to launch yet another service that will provide an additional revenue to Kenyan artists and increase their earnings because we believe in working together to make things happen,” Sylvia Mulinge- Director Of Consumer Business Unit, Safaricom.
