National Bank of Kenya (NBK) and Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) have unveiled a Kshs 25M Kitchen renovation project, made possible by a generous donation from the bank.
This marks the 1st phase of the 3-part project that is expected to take part in 3 phases. This is part of the priority projects to renovate the hospital.
According to NBK Managing Director & CEO Wilfred Musau, the partnership commenced in 2003 and has since grown into a very successful relationship between the two organizations.
“The Bank prides itself in providing cutting edge and value adding financial solutions to institutional customers, and as such we have been able to deploy technology powered payments processing solutions to KNH to enable them process their supplier payments, salary payments, patient refunds and statutory payments from the comfort of their offices reducing manual work, said Musau.
Speaking at the unveiling, Ag. CEO KNH Dr. Evanson Kamuri said, “Our catering services are vital in supporting patient management. Well cooked nutritious food increases response of a patient to the medical treatment offered by our specialists. We have no doubt that our patients will appreciate the improvement in our catering services as a result of this gracious project”.
Musau said that since its inception 50 years ago, National Bank of Kenya has been actively involved in a range of environmental, social and economic programs integrated into the main stream operations to provide sustainability.
“The Bank is committed to doing ethical business that contributes to the economic development while improving the quality of life of its stakeholders as well as of the local communities around us,” concluded Kamuri
This is the first major renovation of the kitchen since the hospital opened in 1901 and it will enable the hospital to seamlessly continue to prepare quality meals for over 2000 patients daily.
