Information and communications technology (ICT) is critical in fueling economic development, increasing workforce competitiveness, transitioning to a knowledge-based economy and driving job creation.

To transform education in and beyond the classroom, there is need to drive for both holistic and systemic change and work collaboratively to bring the best ideas, tools and partnerships forward. The new era of digital learning requires all stakeholders from government leaders, curriculum publishers, equipment manufacturers, technology providers, institutions of learning and service organizations to be  aligned  in order to facilitate change.

The Microsoft Education Transformation Agreement is a comprehensive partnership that will enhance positive changes in teaching and learning, besides improving learning outcomes for students. The Education Transformation Agreement aims at  establishing  commitments from all stakeholders in order to ensure that they are  all  working towards common goals. These shared commitments form the basis of a partnership, strengthened with regular review and measurement to keep the components of the educational programmes effective and aligned.
