Isuzu Motors opens a new plant in Nairobi.

The Kenya Coach Industry, the Isuzu East Africa has opened a new facility that is located along Mombasa road,the plant has a show room,service workshop and a vehicle building facility at a total cost of sh. 700 million.

The facility has helped in promoting Job creation, as it has close to 300 staff directly and other 1200 indirectly,the plant will also add more 500 staff members as the business expands.

Speaking during the launch Mr.Narian Sokhi the managing director Kenya Coach Industry,said that venture will aid in growth of the local assembly and the transport sector through production of quality bus bodies.

“We are delighted to be opening this new facility that will see the production of quality bus bodies and chassis. This is a huge milestone, not just for KCI, but for the transport industry,” he further added that,”the facility has about 300 staff who are hired directly and about 1,200 staff who are employed indirectly and we expect to add 500 more workers in the first year of operation as business grows,” said Mr Sokhi.

Isuzu East Africa relies on independent dealers like, KCI, Thika Motor Dealers and Associated Motor Limited,in its business management and workshop purposes compared to other vehicle dealers in the country that relay only on a single dealer.

The new plant aims at doubling the monthly production of 200 per month, its maximum capacity,and currently it produces capacity of 100 bus bodies every month.The suppliers of of steel, aluminum, paint, glass and electrical equipment which produce the material required to fabricate chassis and vehicle body parts,will also benefit from the firm.
