HOW CREDIT UNION WOMEN LEADERS ARE ADDRESSING DISRUPTIONS CAUSED BY COVID-19 PANDEMIC GLOBALLY

Representatives from two World Council Associate Member organizations recently  joined the  Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) for a   webinar on the ways credit union women across the globe have responded to challenges presented by Covid-19.

Hosted by the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Association (ACCOSCA), more than one hundred people attended the webinar. It focused on the ways women are engaged and are part of the solution in helping credit unions navigate disruptions caused by the pandemic.

Global Women’s Leadership Network Programme Director Eleni Giakoumopoulous gave the keynote address. It focused  on the role of women in leadership and the growth of GWLN. 

Elenita San Roque, the chief executive officer  of the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) gave a presentation on the initiatives that  women in Asia are taking to improve their social and economic power. By the same token, women from credit unions in Kenya, Nigeria and Malawi shared their experiences of dealing with the disruption in Africa.
