Guinness has unveiled a 12-week campaign dubbed ‘Guinness Night Football’ to give consumers an opportunity to represent Kenya in a pan-African tournament in Lagos, Nigeria.
The campaign, whose slogan is: ‘Come play, Come Watch’ encourages football fans to either participate for a chance to win or watch for their love of football. The winning team from Kenya will represent the country alongside a team from Uganda and host Nigeria. These three markets will then battle it out for the ultimate crown and the winner will face off with Rio Ferdinand’s celebrity team.
The games will be aired live on Africa’s top pay-tv channel, DSTV.
Speaking at the launch, Kenya Breweries Limited marketing manager – Guinness, Ms. Nduku Wamakau said: “The Guinness brand is all about sharing with friends. The campaign aims to offer extra-ordinary experience not only in Kenya but also in Lagos-Nigeria for an experience of a life-time. These are among the many ways the brand has over time, been at the forefront of expanding our football horizons and experiences.” The winning amateur team will represent Kenya at the Pan-African tournament.
Each regional winner team will be awarded Kshs. 50,000 and a chance to travel to Nairobi to battle it out in the finals to determine the winning 5-Aside team to the Pan-African tournament. The first runners up in the regional tournaments will receive Kshs. 20,000. The final tournament in Nairobi will have the first runners up winning Kshs. 150,000, while the second runners up will win Kshs. 100,000 respectively for the teams.
The five member team will register via the appointed ‘captain’ who will share the members’ details. This is by filling registration forms in the outlets or through the Guinness microsite on the brand’s social media pages. The campaign will run from 22nd October to 7th December 2019.
