FORD’S PRESIDENT OF NORTH AMERICA OUT OVER “INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR”

The head of Ford’s US operations is leaving the motor company immediately following an internal investigation in the company. Ford said that that it’s inquiry had concluded that some of Raj Nair’s conduct have not been at per with the company’s code of conduct. However, the company did not specify why the investigation against it’s own President were started and what it uncovered.

“We made this decision after a thorough review and careful consideration. Ford is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values,” said Jim Hackett, Ford President and Chief Executive. Mr Nair was previously Head of Global Development and Chief Technical Officer.

“I sincerely regret that there have been instances i have not exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with the principles that the company and i have always espoused,” Mr. Nair apologized without elaborating on the reasons for his going. He further added that, “I continue to have the utmost faith in the people of Ford Motor Company and wish them continued success in the future.”

Ford agreed  to a multi-million dollar settlement in August after and investigation into sex and race harassment at two of their factories in Chicago. The investigation conducted by the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which claimed that female and African-American employees had been subjected to sexual harassment and found out that the motor company had retaliated against employees who had complained about the issue.

The departure of Raj Nair who had been with the company for 30 years comes at a particularly bad time for the company since investors and analysts have been unhappy with the seeming lack of clear direction that Ford is taking in terms of future mobility services. The stock market is falling and a lot has to be done to restore it’s former glory.
