Bamburi Cement launches a 4bn plant in Athi River.

Bamburi Cement has finalized the set up of the grinding plant in Athi River worth sh.4bn which is aimed to boost the production capacity by 900,000 metric tonnes a year.

Besides that,it will also produce Bamburi’s Power Plus and Power Max brands that were previously made at the Mombasa plant.Bamburi is looking forward to produce 3.4 metric tonnes from both plants.

The new plant indicates the firm’s expansion plan that started in 2015 to further boost its stake, where it leads with 32.4% of the local market followed by Mombasa Cement with 20% and National Cement with 18.4% share respectively.

The company is focusing to recover from a challenges it faced,fall of cement production and consumption.

“The contractor is on schedule and will soon be handing the project over to the company for full operation. Further, we are happy that the line has produced the first bag of cement three days ahead of the scheduled time,” said Bamburi Cement CEO Seddiq Hassani in a statement.
